Edōni

Ἤδωνες). A Thracian people, between the Nestus and the
Strymon, celebrated for their orgiastic worship of Bacchus; whence Edonis in the Latin poets
signifies a female Bacchanal, and Edonus is used as equivalent to Thracicus.
